Pastors and Leaders Gather for

State-wide Leadership Conference in Bihar

340 Christian leaders and pastors gathered at NIEA’s Bihar Training campus from May 11-13, 2009 for the 3 day Life in Christ Leadership Seminar. Led by Pr. & Mrs. Tak & Adrienne Bhana from New Zealand, this conference brought together servant catalysts from 22 of Bihar’s 37 districts representing over 37 Christian organizations and ministries.

Bihar is considered the most challenged area in India today with a Christian population of about 0.5% of her 90 million State population. Scattered in more than 45,000 villages, the majority of Bihar’s 90% rural population is yet to hear the name of Jesus for even the first time.

The pastors' conference served to achieve the following:-
• Provide encouragement through Biblical teaching to front-line pastors and evangelists.
• Served to provide a forum for networking and unity bringing together organizations across
denominational lines in an attitude of mutual service and encouragement.
• Share about Mission as Transformation.
• Motivated servant catalysts to press on in service of the King to the unreached and unengaged peoples of Bihar.
• Information provided on the Block Strategy approach to reach every block (county) of Bihar with the Gospel.
• Served to share resources and stories of God’s work across the state.

“This seminar has been a blessing and I am returning to my home town to plant additional churches.” said Rajender Das who travelled some 20 hours by bus to reach the conference site. Copies of the Living Bible in Hindi were distributed to all participants.

Pastors in Bihar will soon be getting Bible stories in MP3 format for distribution. NIEA serves as a pivot organisation to translate Bible stories in 6 Bihari languages, to evangelize the 67% illiterates of Bihar. We thank God for the opportunity to serve God’s people in Bihar and to bring
together men and women (30% of attendees were women) to be motivated in their service for the Lord. We believe Bihar has been blessed and look forward to exciting reports from pastors as they return encouraged and renewed!

More than a thousand receive the Lord!

Yes, this was made possible by our loving God, who provided with us a fully equipped Gospel Van to take the message of Jesus Christ to remote villages and a few towns in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu.

During an 11 – day outreach program four 3 - member teams constituted by the members of
New India Bible Church and New India Bible Institute, Tamil Nadu, joined our Mobile Unit Team to visit more than 800 homes. They spoke to the people of God's love, distributed Gospel tracts and Gospel copies and prayed with the sick and the needy. Visits to the homes was an opportunity to invite the villagers to watch a film in the evening after sunset. In eleven places, films were shown and Gospel messages were preached. During the altar calls 1140 men and women came forward on different days to decide for the Lord! We find this way of reaching the
people with the Gospel very effective and we need to extend these wonderful opportunities!

Please pray for this ministry. We trust the Lord for 3 more mobile units for South India. Our Gospel Van (see the picture) takes the people, literature, and the equipment for film shows to the “unreached community.”
