Church Planting
NIEA continues to reach out through evangelism and church planting initiatives in several states of India and surrounding regions. Besides the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the south, church planting has also crossed over into Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal. Over 450 staff members are regularly engaged in reaching out to the unreached and least evangelized people, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Bihar has continued to pose a challenge for mission-minded leaders across India and beyond. Current statistics tell us that 90 million live in this second largest state of India – 90% of them in her 39,000 villages. Staggering illiteracy rates (22% or less literacy for women) coupled with alarmingly unsafe health indicators (Infant Mortality Rate 72/1000 live births; 451/100,000 Maternal Mortality rate) all provide ample evidence that Bihar needs help at several levels. Not to mention of course, that 54% of all children under five are malnourished.
New India Bible Church,
the church wing of NIEA, continues to expand through various state-based initiatives. Currently in the fellowship are over 200 churches. In addition to these, numerous prayer groups, neighborhood Bible studies and discipleship groups are active as the beginning steps of church planting. Efforts are directed to areas where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is neither heard nor seen. Newly won believers are taught principles from the Word of God; they are discipled and exhorted to be dynamic witnesses in their daily lives.
